How Would
YOu Handle it?
How do you celebrate the holidays?
One of the things I love to do is throw a party. Throwing a party is about connection and fun. Most of all, throwing a party means creating meaningful memories. While my house is not huge, it is welcoming. Nowhere (downstairs) is off limits during a party. I try to give everyone an area that they can enjoy. Some people need to be in the thick of it. Out where everyone is “frolicking”, where they can engage with all. Others prefer some quiet, small group or one on one time with their friends. I try to stage areas both for quiet small gatherings and areas that can accommodate a large group. Some parties at my house are themed, larger budget extravaganzas. Christmas parties tend to be more inclusive and smaller budget. I try to provide a range of activities that all can enjoy, including a gift Exchange. To integrate everyone together, several activities that everyone gathers for are timed for the most rewarding party “flow” and fun. I even hire "babysitters" to keep the children engaged, so the adults, including me, can partake in the fun. The most important aspect of a holiday party at my house is to create some memories. The combination of food, friends, and activities hopefully provides all attendees with some fond memories. What is the most important part of planning a holiday celebration for you?
